A place in the country
Sam and I decided to switch talents to see how well we could do in each other’s “shoes”.
Sam painted a picture after going to the nearby art museum. The theme for the month was landscapes.
I then decided to try out my rhyming skills to match the picture. Here’s what became of it…
A place in the country
Midst the day’s confusion I longed to rest
in a place with quietness blest
My body strained, my mind blank and dull
I wanted relief from it all
When i found the smallest moment of time
hoped for a calm place that was mine
and wished for somewhere to go just for me
as peaceful a place ought to be
A place in the country with hills of vines
sporting the best and finest wine
a small cottage by the side of a hill
with tasty drinks and foods to fill

Yet amidst that beautiful masterpiece
my wondering mind not at ease
thoughts of work and cleaning still filled my head
the children must be taught instead
I continued teaching, and other
performed the work of a mother
at the day’s close, the children tucked in bed
a whisper from my daughter said,
“I love you Mom! You’re the best in the world!”
closed eyes and said another word
“Thanks” then slept with dreams of angels and more
my heart lifted, my mind did soar
My work was finished without one more whine
out came treats and favorite wine
my children are happy my mind’s at peace
now relaxed my spirit at ease
My work may be great but His love is more
His grace lifts me when mine is sore
He’ll take me one day to that dream of mine
Yet I will serve Him till that time

(To Sam: I think your painting tops my rhyming.
)
Both are lovely.
Cute.
